Our team of caregivers is uniquely qualified and ready to help 

Every member of our team is professional and well trained. We conduct a thorough screening and interviewing process to identify the best home caregivers and only those who pass this process go on to complete training to deliver our special brand of home care and become Comfort Keepers®. What truly sets our caregivers apart, though, is their natural gift for caring for others. 

All Comfort Keepers pass extensive background checks and complete continuing education. They are bonded, insured and covered by workers' compensation insurance to protect our clients and their families.


Chris and Erin Couchell


Erin, a lifelong Upstate resident and Converse College graduate, opened Comfort Keepers Spartanburg in 2006 after seeing firsthand the need for and value in keeping seniors in their own homes.

As the business grew, Erin’s husband Chris—a fellow Upstate native, graduate of Clemson’s Mechanical Engineering program, and MBA—became more and more involved. In 2015, Chris joined Comfort Keepers full-time, and the Couchells knew the time was right to add the Greenville office their team. Both the Spartanburg and Greenville Comfort Keepers offices have earned a reputation for providing excellent care to Upstate residents.

When Erin and Chris are not at Comfort Keepers, they are spending time with their three energetic daughters.

Brandon Cupstid

Director of Operations

Brandon joined Comfort Keepers in July of 2017 as Director of Operations. Brandon holds degrees in Business Administration from The College of Charleston and the Citadel.

Prior to joining Comfort Keepers, Brandon worked as a Business Analyst in the Office of Development at the Medical University of South Carolina. In his role with MUSC, Brandon provided strategic support of patient and clinical growth.

Brandon and his wife Laurin recently welcomed their first child, Henry, in October. Brandon is passionate about being a part of the Comfort Keepers team and bettering the lives of the clients we serve.

Erin Seay

General Manager

Erin joined Comfort Keepers in 2008 as the Scheduling Coordinator. She quickly found her place and is now our General Manager.

She is our go-to person for every need, and can make anything happen!  When she’s not running the office, she is with her husband, David, and their two sons.

Lorrie Byers

Client Care Coordinator

Lorri began with Comfort Keepers in June 2015 as a Caregiver and has since transitioned into a Client Care Coordinator.

Originally from Kansas, she attended Pratt Community College and Vatterott College before beginning her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant twenty-seven years ago. Lorri has cared for patients with mental illness and intellectual and/or developmental disabilities but specializes in Geriatric care.

Lorri and her husband, Robert, reside in Spartanburg and have three adult children who live in Kansas and Colorado.

Tonia Owens

Client Care Coordinator

Tonia joined Comfort Keepers in 2017.  She grew up in Western North Carolina and has been a native of the Upstate for 24 years. 

She attended Montreat College where she played collegiate volleyball and basketball.  Tonia spent over 22 years in the communications industry and nearly 3 years working with hospice.

She lives with her husband, Dale and two sons, Daylen and Keaton in Inman, SC. 

Jordan Ashley

Scheduling Coordinator

Jordan joined Comfort Keepers in January 2018. She received a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Science from Winthrop University in May 2017.

Jordan has 6 years of customer service experience and first-hand caregiving experience from taking care of her mother who was diagnosed with brain cancer.

In her free time, Jordan loves going to concerts and spending time with her family and dog, Stella.

Lori Mace

Recruiting Coordinator

Lori joined Comfort Keepers in 2014 with over nine years of In-Home Care experience and a background in Customer Service.

Lori’s outgoing personality is one of the many reasons why she is so wonderful with prospective Comfort Keepers.

When Lori isn’t recruiting the Upstate’s best caregivers, she is busy raising her two beautiful children with her husband, Richard. 

Erin Parks

Human Resources Director

Erin started with Comfort Keepers in 2013 as a Human Resource Coordinator and is now the Human Resources Director.

Erin’s approachable, fair, and helpful personality along with her years of experience is one of the reasons why Comfort Keepers of Spartanburg and Greenville have one of the lowest caregiver turnover rates in our industry!

She enjoys keeping everyone happy and mentoring our wonderful employees. When she is not at Comfort Keepers she is busy with her two sons. 

Jessica Robertson

Scheduling Coordinator

Jessica majored in Health Information Management at USC Upstate and has over nine years of experience in Customer Service. She enjoys the chaos that being a Scheduling Coordinator brings.

In her free time, Jessica enjoys shopping, time at the beach, and spending time with her fiancé and two daughters, Aubrey-Anna and Olivia.

Anita Rud

Administrative Assistant

Anita joined Comfort Keepers in June 2015. She majored in Business at Spartanburg Community College and has over three years of Customer Service experience as well as a background in caregiving.

Upon arriving at Comfort Keepers Spartanburg, everyone is greeted with a warm and friendly smile! In her spare time, Anita enjoys singing, being an active member of her church, and spending time with her husband Vitaliy.

Julie Sumner, LPN

Training Coordinator/ Private Duty Nurse

Julie graduated from Erskine College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. Later in life, she went back to school to earn her degree in Nursing from Tri County Technical College.

In 2014, Julie began her Nursing career in the Emergency Trauma Center with Greenville Health Systems, where she still works part-time. She joined our team in 2016 as our Training Coordinator and Private Duty Nurse.

Julie’s love of teaching and Nursing enable her to provide training to caregivers, as well as Private Duty Nursing care to our clients. She lives in Greenville with her family, and loves music and traveling. 

Brandie Evans

Accounting Manager

Brandie graduated from Clemson University with a BS in Accounting and has ten years’ experience in Bookkeeping and Accounting procedures.

Since joining Comfort Keepers in 2014, she has streamlined our payroll and billing services for our employees and clients. Brandie and her husband, Carey, have three children and live in the East Side of Spartanburg.

Dorene Fridy, LPN

Community Liaison

Dorene started as a caregiver at Comfort Keepers in 2015 and is now a Community Liaison.  She was raised in the Missouri Ozarks, but she earned her LPN degree from South Florida Community College in Sebring, Florida.

When not working, Dorene enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her five grandchildren.

Andrew Hodges

Community Liaison

Andrew joined Comfort Keepers in 2016. He is a graduate of USC with a BS in Health and Physical Education. He has a passion for helping others of all ages!

Andrew is a great asset to our team with a wealth of managerial experience. Along with his many talents, he also worked with Woodruff School District 4 in Special Education. He is still currently a volunteer Basketball Coach for Woodruff Schools.

Andrew and his wife, Sandra, live in Roebuck. They have three children and three grandchildren. In his spare time, you can find Andrew spending time with his family, outdoors, or hopefully fishing.

Mollie Simmons

Community Liaison

Mollie joined Comfort Keepers in 2014 as an Administrative Assistant. After a few months, she became a Scheduling Coordinator, and in 2017 moved to the Community Liaisons team.

Mollie majored in Human Services and has over ten years’ experience in Customer Services. Mollie and her husband, Chesney, live in Roebuck with their two children. She enjoys traveling, new adventures, and spending time with her family and friends. 

Carol Russell-Griffin

Community Liaison

Carol joined Comfort Keepers as the Community Liaison in July 2017.  Her passion has always been helping others.

Before joining Comfort Keepers she worked at Spartanburg Regional Hospital System for over 10 years. Carol also worked at Gibbs Cancer Center for 6 years as the Art Specialist working with patients, caregivers, and children utilizing her BA degree in Art.

Gayle Willett

Community Liaison

Gayle Willett is a Charlotte native who has lived in Greenville since 1991. Gayle worked in Sales and Marketing for over 20 years before finding a passion for senior care while helping her parents navigate the transition to Assisted Living.

Prior to joining Comfort Keepers in 2017, she served as an elder care advisor and marketer for numerous Senior care facilities throughout the Upstate.

In her spare time, Gayle enjoys traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with her family.
