Raising awareness about heart health is important, particularly if we look at the statistics. Heart disease is the leading cause of death among American men and women across the board. February is American Heart Health Month, so we thought it would be good to examine the different aspects of heart health and more particularly how elderly care can help you stay healthy and independent for a long time.
If you are a senior and are losing some of your mobility and strength, elderly care can help you get back on track and living life on your own terms. Many people are embarrassed and ashamed to ask for help as they older. However, advanced age brings with it its own particular set of challenges and elderly care professionals provide compassionate, dignified day-to-day assistance.
So, what exactly are we talking about when it comes to heart disease? Heart disease is actually not one condition, but rather an umbrella term for a wide range of illnesses. It can encompass conditions like congenital artery disease, congestive heart failure, and arrhythmia.
In some cases, heart disease is simply hereditary. However, most often it is caused by unhealthy eating habits and a sedentary lifestyle. If you are a smoker, it would be wise to quit as soon as possible and limit your consumption of alcoholic beverages as well.
